Eating Beauty Products
I was in Kit Cosmetics on the weekend and I was talking to a couple of the sales assistants and they told me about people eating/tasting/licking the testers - how gross is that?!!!
One person licked the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer compact (AU$52.95 at Kit Cosmetics):

Sure, it may smell like chocolate, but to lick it? Not to mention that it is a tester and all sorts of grubby fingers would have touched it. Ewww.

Another woman decided that as 100% Pure Organic Virgin Coconut Body Scrub (AU$39.95 at Kit Cosmetics) was organic, it would make a nice treat and had a bit of a taste:
Again, eww.
Talking to my girlfriends and it seems that it is not uncommon. Many of them have either heard of it, or have done it themselves. I can't recall ever having the desire to taste something that goes on my face.
A colleague at work tasted the Laura Mercier Hand Creme theorising that as it smelt like almonds and coconut, perhaps it tasted like that too? Needless to say it didn't and she spent the afternoon wiping her tongue on her shirt trying to get the taste out of her mouth!

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Hand Creme available at David Jones for AU$35
I'm curious - what beauty products have you tasted?

I haven't tasted any personally but I have heard of a few people tasting the Moo Goo range. I have a Moo Goo chap stick and it says "edible" on the packaging so that might be why they have tried it.
oh my god how funny!
Tasting testers! Wow - I can honestly say I would never have thought people actually did that.
Sure - some things smell very yummy but blergh they put some other wierd stuff in cosmetics ;-)
That is gross, people are disgusting!!
I might say that my lip gloss tastes so good I could eat it but I do not go out of my way to do so.
I don't think I ever want to touch a tester again :S
Hi Pop Princess, I've used some MooGoo products before, but I didn't think of tasting them!
Hi Esz - I didn't realise that either. If you think about all the unpronounceable chemicals in most beauty products, I wouldn't think you would want to!
Then again, a lot of them do end up in our stomachs...
Hi Sarah, I wouldn't worry, I spoke to the girls at Kit and they clean the testers regularly.
In the case of the licker - it was swiftly binned!
